UnderOATH were first formed in Tampa, Florida USA, during the late '90s,
by frontman Dallas Taylor, guitarist Corey Steger, bassist + guitarist
Octavio Fernandez, keyboardist Christopher Dudley and drummer Aaron Gillespie
The Alternative-Metal act released their debut-CD, "Act Of Depression",
in 1999, a year later it was followed by a second independent CD called
"Cries Of The Past" which showcased the band's mix Industrial,
nu-Metal and traditional heavy-Rock.
UnderOATH bolstered its line-up by recruiting bass player William Edwin
Nottke and guitarist Timothy McTague came on board replacing Steger; their
next full-length disc, "The Changing Of Times", arrived in February
of 2002 on Tooth & Nail Records.
Lead singer Dallas Taylor departed from the group in 2003, in the midst
of Warped Tour dates; by October, new vocalist Spencer Chamberlain joined
the band that replaced Fernandez with guitarist James Smith and Nottke
with bassist Grant Brandell.
"They're Only Chasing Safety", released in mid-2004, climbed
to #1 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers, to #7 on Top Christian Albums charts
and marked their first charting album on The Billboard 200, hitting #101
and spawning the single "Reinventing Your Exit".
June 2006 saw UnderOATH release its breakthrough CD, "Define The
Great Line", which was also available in limited edition with bonus
DVD; the set peaked at #1 on the Top Christian Albums chart and fell just
shy of reaching the same position on The Billboard 200 backed by four
solid singles: "Writing On The Walls", "In Regards To Myself",
"You're Ever So Inviting" and "A Moment Suspended In Time".
The Florida Screamo-Metalcore mainstays' fourth Tooth & Nail album,
"Lost In The Sound Of Separation", was released in September
2008; the disc debuted at #8 The Billboard Top 200 list and included the
singles "Desperate Times, Desperate Measures" and "Too
Bright To See, Too Loud To Hear".
