Alternative-Rock Punk-Rock group formed in 1990 in San Diego, California
USA, comprising vocalist Scott Russo, guitarists Rob Brewer and Steve
Morris, bassist John Bell and drummer Wade Youman.
The quintet made their debut in 1995 with an independent album entitled
"Blue Room".
By spring of the next year they released the band's second effort, "Oz
Factor", on Epic Records; the group hit the road hard, gaining new
fans, but the record failed to chart.
Unwritten Law's third album, was recorded with Pat Kim of Sprung
Monkey on bass who joined the crew after the departure of John Bell,
the self-titled album was issued in mid-1998 on Interscope breaking the
top 20 of Billboard Magazine's Top Heatseekers chart, "Cailin"
became their first Modern Rock top 30 charting single.
After three and a half years the group resurfaced with "Elva"
which peaked at #69 on The Billboard Top 200 chart, its single "Seein'
Red" reached the top of the Modern Rock chart and "Up All Night"
peaked at #14 in the same chart.
In January 2003 the band released the semi-acoustic set "Music In
High Places", which featured the track "Rest Of My Life",
it reached the #16 spot on The Modern Rock chart.
Unwritten Law, with new drummer Tony Palermo, returned with their new
studio record, "Here's To The Mourning", in February 2005, the
album was released through Lava.
