VAST is one-man Alternative-Rock Goth-Rock act: Jon Crosby; he grew up in a town of 7.000 people, Humboldt County, California USA, at the age of 13 started playing guitar and subsequently he moved to San Francisco where began his career in the music industry, Crosby signed for Elektra Records that released VAST debut album in 1998, the record, performed entirely by Crosby, generated the single "Touched" which entered the top 40 of both the Billboard's Rock charts plus "Pretty When You Cry". For the follow-up, 2000's "Music For People", Crosby recruited guitarist Justin Cotta, bassist Thomas Froggatt and drummer Steve Clark, the second effort broke into The Billboard 200 Albums chart and included "Free" which hit the #12 spot on Modern Rock Tracks chart plus "I Don't Have Anything" that ranked in the top 40 in the same chart.
