Hard-Rock act fronted by bass player+singer Kip Winger who founded the
band in 1986 in New York, NY USA, the line-up comprised guitarist Reb
Beach, bassist Paul Taylor and drummer Rod Morgenstein, the group's eponymous
debut album reached the #21 on The Billboard Top 200 chart and soared
to platinum sales helped by "Madalaine" which became a Mainstream
Rock top 30 hit, the second single "Headed For A Heartbreak"
entered the top 20 of The Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at #8 on Mainstream
Rock Tracks chart, "Seventeen" reached the #26 and #19 respectively
on Hot 100 and Mainstream Rock charts; the band also supported their first
album touring for over a year with the likes of Bad
Company, Scorpions, Cinderella, Bon
Jovi, Poison, Skid Row and Tesla. In
1990 Winger issued "In The Heart Of The Young" which was another
million-seller, the record peaked at #15 on The Billboard 200 Albums chart
and generated three singles: "Can't Get Enuff" hit the #6 on
Mainstream Rock chart, "Miles Away" that reached the #12 on
The Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at #14 on Mainstream Rock Tracks chart
plus another Active Rock top 20 hit, "Easy Come Easy Go"; the
band, in support of their second album, toured the world playing more
than 230 shows. Three years later appeared "Pull" but failed
to match the success of its predecessors, only one single, "Down
Incognito", climbed into the top 20 of The Mainstream Rock chart,
in late 1993 the band members decided to go their separate ways. After
the release of "The Very Best Of Winger" in October 2001, they
come back together for a spring/summer 2002 tour.
