Synth-Pop duo comprised of synthesizer player Vince Clarke and singer
Alison Moyet. In 1981 after Depeche
Mode's debut album, "Speak And Spell" was finished Clarke
left the group and started his new project, Yazoo, Yaz in America; in
April 1982 their first single "Only You / Situation" reached
the #2 on The Official U.K. chart, followed "Don't Go" that
burned the Dance charts all over the globe finally their debut full-length,
"Upstairs At Eric's" peaked at #2 on the U.K. Albums chart and
broke into the U.S. Pop chart. In 1983, in advance of their second effort
"You And Me Both", the duo released another double-A side single
"State Farm / Nobody's Diary", the album peaked at #69 in U.S.
Pop Albums chart but saw a drop in European sales, by this point Clarke
and Moyet decided to go their separate ways.
