Formed in New York City, in 2000, with a three-piece line-up featuring
vocalist Karen O, real name Karen Orzalek, guitarist Nick Zinner and drummer
Brian Chase, this Indie-Rock Punk-Rock trio managed to quickly gain the
interest in the movement of the Garage scene.
In 2001 they went on to support The
White Stripes, The Strokes and recorded
their first 5-track EP.
For the next year, the band toured extensively throughout Europe with
The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
and eventually released a second 3-track EP titled "Machine".
Yeah Yeah Yeahs' debut album, "Fever To Tell", came out in April
of 2003 on Interscope and broke into the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart
peaking at #55; its main single, "Maps", peaked at #9 on The
Modern Rock chart.
The trio returned in March 2006 with its second full-length CD, "Show
Your Bones"; the disc includes two singles "Gold Lion"
and "Cheated Hearts".
