• The Cranberries lead singer, Dolores O'Riordan, has annonced she has inked a deal with Sanctuary Records and will release her first solo album, "Are You Listening", on May 8, 2007; the first single from the CD will impact radio in late April 2007.

• Def Leppard will begin work on a new studio album in January at frontman Joe Elliott's house in Dublin. “We've got about five or six songs on the go and there'll be 11 or 12 on the final version”, guitarist Phil Collen tells Billboard.com.

• Chevelle's new album, tentatively titled "Your Terrible Memories", is set for a February/March 2007 release.

• The B-52's are in the studio working on their first album in over a decade, the band's last new material came on the 1998 compilation "Time Capsule" and the band has spent recent summers touring.

• Candiria's new album, "Kiss The Lie", is now “on hold” after the departure of drummer Ken Schalk.

• Anberlin have set February 20th as the release date for their upcoming album "Cities"; the album will be released through Tooth & Nail.

• CKY have signed a worldwide deal with Roadrunner Records; a new album is expected sometime in 2007.

• Puddle Of Mudd have completed the recording of their third major label album; the disc is scheduled for a spring 2007 release with a supporting tour to follow.

• Interpol has entered the studio to work on their third album, which is their first for Capitol Records; the band has posted on their Web site that they are currently working in a New York studio.

• Drowning Pool has reportedly signed with Sanctuary Records for the release of their third studio album; it will be the first to feature ex-SOiL vocalist Ryan McCombs.

• The Offspring have announced that they are finally back in the studio and have begun working with producer Bob Rock for their upcoming new album; the new material, which is the band's first since 2003's "Splinter", is to be released sometime in 2007 with a world tour to follow.

• Wilco expect to release the follow-up to 2004's "A Ghost Is Born" in late spring of 2007. Bassist John Stirratt tells Billboard the band is “getting close to being done with all the basics and overdubs” for the as-yet-untitled record.

• Velvet Revolver have begun pre-production on their new album, tentatively titled "Libertad", with producer Brendan O'Brien; a release date has not been set.

• The Bravery have finished recording their second album for Island Records, the CD entitled "The Sun And The Moon", will be realeased in spring 2007.

• Earshot is currently working on its third album for a release sometime next year, frontman Wil Martin and the band hopes to be touring next year as well.

• Static-X have announced on their myspace page that the band is currently writing a new record set for an early 2007 release.

• Sum 41 have entered a recording studio to begin recording their follow-up to 2004's "Chuck", the album will hit the stores in the first half of the next year.

• The Ataris have signed with Sanctuary Records for the release of their long delayed fifth full-length album, "Welcome The Night"; the disc is set to arrive in stores on February 6.

• Silverchair's long awaited fifth album will be called "Young Modern", the set will be released by Eleven Records early next year.

• Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson has enlisted Billy Corgan and Jack White to lend a hand to her upcoming solo debut; her still-untitled album is expected sometime next year.

• The new band featuring Mudvayne front-man Chad Gray, Greg Tribbett also from Mudvayne and Tom Maxwell from Nothingface on guitar, another Nothingface member Jerry Montano on bass and ex-Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul Abbot have chosen the name Hell Yeah; the band has been writing and recording for an album tentatively due out in March 2007.

• Bloc Party will follow-up their debut album "Silent Alarm" with "A Weekend In The City" on February 6, the lead single will be "The Prayer".

• Flaw's former members, guitarist Jason Daunt, front-man Chris Volz and drummer Chris Ballinger, have reunited and are currently working on material for a new studio album.

• Atomship have re-united with original vocalist Derek Pardoe, left Wind-Up Records and have changed their name to Atomship Down. The band will release a double album titled "Let Us Sleep Awhile" later this year.

• Courtney Love is preparing to release her second solo album, which Love and producer Linda Perry say is a far cry from 2004's disappointing "America's Sweetheart". After numerous battles with drugs, Love entered rehab and began writing new songs on a guitar given to her by Perry.

• Dark New Day will release their sophomore album early next year, the band is currently in Atlanta recording the album.
  

• Eleven years after the death of frontman Shannon Hoon, Blind Melon has announced they are reforming with a new singer; Travis Warren will handle vocals and the group is writing new material together.

• Cold frontman Scooter Ward will begin recording the debut from his new side project, When November Falls, on November 1; the album, which will be titled "The Series Of Emotion", is expected to be released in March 2007.

• Radiohead is back in the studio working on their next studio album, the disc is expected some time in 2007.

• U2 has moved from its long-time label home of Island Records over to Mercury Records. The band's recently-announced new best-of disc has been given a name, U2.com announced that "U218 Singles" will arrive in November and will be packaged with a limited edition bonus live CD.

• Chevelle have entered the studio to being recording their new album; the yet to be titled disc is scheduled for a Spring 2007 release.

• Finger Eleven have completed recording their fourth studio album according to a message board posting by guitarist James Black; the set will be released in early 2007.

• Marilyn Manson has reportedly finished work on about half of a new album; one of the tracks is reportedly called "Rebels Without Applause" and it's about trendy new bands.

• The new band featuring Tommy Lee, Jason Newsted, Gilby Clarke and now vocalist Lukas Rossi have renamed themselves Rock Star Supernova after the original California band Supernova filed and won a law suit over the name; the band will release their debut album on November 21.

• Good Charlotte has just finished recording its fourth album, "Good Morning Revival", due in February via Epic.

• Rush will regroup in October to finish pre-production for their new album and will begin recording in November; the veteran Canadian rockers is in the process of writing music for their first studio record since 2002's "Vapor Trails", the release of the new LP is expected in early 2007.

• Brand New will release their new album, the follow-up to 2003's "Deja Entendu", on November 21 via Interscope Records.

• U2 is working on material for its next studio album with producer Rick Rubin, according to the band's Web site; the group has been at work on the as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2004's "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb" since August.

• Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor is currently in the process of working on new material for the follow-up to "With Teeth", which is due out in late 2006 or early 2007; no official title for the new release has been given yet.
  

• Peter Frampton will release his first instrumental record, "Fingerprints", on September 12; Pearl Jam's Mike McCready and Matt Cameron perform on two tracks, including a cover of Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun".

• The Shins will release their third album, "Wincing The Night Away", in January; singer James Mercer tells Billboard.com that the record is almost in the can, after having been pushed back multiple times this year.

• Saliva have announced they will be releasing their fourth major-label studio album, titled "Blood Stained, Love Story" in February 2007 via Island Records. The first single from the CD will be "Ladies And Gentlemen".

• Modest Mouse will release their new album, "We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank", on December 19; ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr has joined the band as an official member and appears on the new record.

• Aerosmith will release a new “best of” compilation titled "Devil's Got A New Disguise" on October 10; the set will include two brand new songs: the title-track and "Sedona Sunrise". The band plans to hit the studio in February to begin work on a new studio album.

• In October Clutch will begin recording material for their next album on the West coast; They will be employing the services of Joe Barresi (QOTSA, Tool, Weezer); an early 2007 release is expected.

• Switchfoot are presently putting the finishing touches on their new album, "Oh! Gravity", which is due out December 26.

• Bowling For Soup will release a new album, "The Great Burrito Extortion Case", on October 31; now it's been confirmed that the first single release will be "High School Never Ends".

• Steriogram's new album is going to be called "This Is Not The Target Market" and will probably be an October release in New Zealand.

• Ra will release a live album entitled "Raw" on October 24, with plans for a new studio album, tentatively titled "Black Sun", in early 2007.

• Submersed has been working with producer Rick Beato (Shinedown) in Atlanta, on the follow-up to their 2004 debut "In Due Time"; no word on when the disc will hit stores.

• Kasabian will release "Empire", the follow-up to their self-titled debut, on September 19.

• My Chemical Romance is close to wrapping up their next studio album; the still-untitled effort will be in stores on October 24.

• Incubus will release their sixth studio album entitled "Light Grenades" on November 20.

• Blur and Gorillaz front-man Damon Albarn has formed yet another band. Danger Mouse also features ex-The Verve gutiarist Simon Tong, ex-The Clash bassist Paul Simonon and drummer Tony Allen, the group is currently working on a new album entitled "The Good The Bad And The Queen" which should be in stores in January 2007.

• Billy Idol is working on new material which he will finish up after the current short U.S. tour.

• Seether has put “all future plans on hold” due to singer Shaun Morgan checking himself into rehab; the band's label, Wind-up Records, released a statement saying that Morgan is in rehab for “a combination of substances”.

• Senses Fail will release their sophomore effort "Still Searching" on October 3.

• Jimmy Eat World announced on their official Web site that the Arizona group is recording their next album with producer Butch Vig; the band had been working on demos since the beginning of the year.

• Former Eve 6 front-man Max Collins and drummer Tony Fagenson are back with a new band, The Sugi Tap.

• Ben Kweller has set a September 19 for his eponymous, third studio album; the singer+songwriter played every instrument on the record.

• In an interview with Canadian JAM! Music, The Beastie Boys revealed they are writing new material and will likely self-produce their next album.

• Mushroomhead have recently finished their new album, "Savior Sorrow", which is set to be released on September 19.
  

• Bieler Bros. Records have announced the signing of Smile Empty Soul; the band will release a new album of all new material, "Vultures", on October 24.

• Audioslave's new album, "Revelations", is still more than two months away from being released, but front-man Chris Cornell recently told AOL Music that he has already begun working on his second solo album.

• Candiria are currently mixing their new album "Kiss The Lie"; the disc will be released this fall.

• Sparta have titled their new album "Threes" which will arrive in stores on September 26th.

• Sevendust are ready to begin work on the follow-up to last year's "Next"; the band recently parted ways with Winedark Records and will begin shopping for a new label shortly.

• Black Label Society have chosen "Concrete Jungle" as the first single from their Roadrunner debut, "Shot To Hell"; the album will hit stores on September 22nd.

• The Mars Volta have set August 15 as the release date for their new album "Amputechture".

• Alter Bridge plans to release a new studio album in the spring of 2007.

• Iron Maiden will release a new album entitled "A Matter Of Life And Death", the CD is expected to hit stores in early September.

• Seether have announced the departure of guitarist Pat Callahan; after completing their current tour the band will spend two months writing material for the follow-up to last years "Karma and Effect"; Seether will produce their next disc themselves with a March 2007 release date planned.

• The Burden Brothers has completed their sophomore effort titled "Mercy", the set is expected to be released this summer.

• A new album from New York-based Helmet will arrive in stores on July 18 via their new label, Warcon Records; the disc will be titled "Monochrome".

• Cinder will release "House Full Of No Trust", the follow-up to 2003's "Break Your Silence", on August 8 via Rock Ridge Music.

• Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke's debut solo album, "The Eraser", will be released in July via XL Recordings.

• Papa Roach are ready to return and make what they say will be a “comeback” for the band; pre-production is drawing to a close and soon the Northern Californian alt-Metal group will enter the studio begin the actual recording process for the yet untitled fourth album.

• Crossfade's sophomore album has a tentative release date of August 1st with the first single, "Invincible", expected to be online in the next few weeks.

• Megadeth, who were joined by bassist James Lomenzo, ex-Black Label Society in February following the departure of James MacDonough, have signed to Roadrunner Records for the release of their upcoming album.

• Lo-Pro have returned from a two-year hiatus after writing and recording 26 songs for the follow-up to their self-titled debut.

• Candlebox will release a 15-track Best Of-set on May 23, via Rhino Records, the band's original line-up will re-unite for a summer tour and will also record a new album with a spring 2007 release date planned.

• Sister Hazel recently finished recording their sixth studio album with a summer release date planned.

• Linkin Park MC Mike Shinoda said that the band is about halfway done writing the songs for their new album, the disc will be out later this year.

• The Killers is currently working on the new effort in a Las Vegas studio with producers Flood and Alan Moulder; they are recording 16 songs, some of which feature horns and strings.

• Alter Bridge, featuring former Creed members Mark Tremonti, Brian Marshall and Scott Phillips, has split with Wind-Up; the band plans to release a new album in spring 2007 but has yet to choose a new label.

• Saliva is currently in the studio in Los Angeles, working on their fourth album for Island Def Jam; the band will be hitting the road this summer to support the new record.

• Jet are getting closer to finishing the follow-up to 2003's "Get Born", their new album is tentatively slated to arrive in stores on September 26.

• Rise Against have set July 11th as the release date for their upcoming album "The Sufferer And The Witness".

• Lamb of God have titled their new album "Sacrament", the disc will is expected to arrive in stores in late August.

• Underoath will release their third album, "Define The Great Line", on June 20; the Florida rockers is current in Sweden filming videos for the new tracks "Writing On The Walls" and "In Regards To Myself".

  The Smashing Pumpkins have officially confirmed their long-rumored reunion. A post on the band's website states that the alt-Rock group currently is penning tunes for its first proper album since 2000's "MACHINA/The Machines Of God", and plans to hit the studio in the summer.

• Evanescence's forthcoming sophomore studio effort will be called "The Open Door"; the set will be available in stores in or around August.

• Powerman 5000 will release their DRT Entertainment debut "Destroy What You Enjoy" on July 18.

• Soul Asylum's new album, "The Silver Lining", will see a July 11th release. The disc will include the last recordings of bassist Karl Miller, who died of throat cancer last year.

• The Deftones are expected to release a new, currently untitled, album on September 12.

• Breaking Benjamin have returned to the studio to begin work on the follow-up to 2004's "We Are Not Alone", the disc is expected to be released this summer.

• Audioslave have set "Revelations" as the title of their third album, due in June.

• Black Label Society have set July 3rd as the release date for their new album, "Shot To Hell", the disc will be the first on their new label, Roadrunner Records.

• Stone Sour have chosen "Come What May" as the title for their new album, the album is expected to be released on July 18.

• Three Days Grace have set "Animal I Have Become" as the first single off of their forthcoming album "One X", which should be out sometime this summer.

• Velvet Revolver are embracing a new direction on their forthcoming second album and hope fans will be able to “dance” to it; the set, which has a working title of "Libertad", is scheduled for release later this year.
