• Thornley have begun recording the follow-up to 2004's "Come Again" with producer Nick Raskulinecz.

• Ex-Rogue Wave bassist Evan Farrell died December 23 in Oakland, California, from injuries suffered in an apartment fire caused by a space heater.

• On The Modern Rock chart, Seether's "Fake It" ended the record-breaking 18-week run at the top by the Foo Fighters' "The Pretender", which slipped to #2. "Fake It" was also #1 on The Mainstream Rock tally for an eighth week.

• Theory Of A Deadman have titled their new studio album "Scars & Souvenirs": a March 25, 2008, release is expected.

• The Used are set to begin work on their next full-length album in January 2008.

• Keith Caputo, frontman of Live Of Agony, will release his new solo album "Fondness For Hometown Scars"‘ in Europe via Suburban Records next year.

• R.E.M. will release their new studio album on April 1, 2008, according to singer Michael Stipe. The band have been working on the follow-up to 2004's "Around The Sun" in recent months and the LP now looks to be complete.

• Mudvayne are planning a mid-2008 release for their as-yet-untitled new album.

• Alanis Morissette will burst back onto the scene next spring with the album "Flavors Of Entanglement".

• Switchfoot have announced that they will be back in the studio in February 2008 to record a new album for a fall 2008 release.

• Dan Fogelberg, the singer and songwriter whose hits "Longer", "Leader Of The Band" and "Same Old Lang Syne" helped define the Soft-Rock era, died on December 16 at his home in Maine after battling prostate cancer. He was 56.

• The Presidents Of The United States Of America will release their new studio album "These Are the Good Times People" which is expected to be in stores on March 11, 2008.

• Anthrax have confirmed the addition of new vocalist Dan Nelson. Writing for a new album is currently under-way with a 2008 release possible.

• On the heels of John Mellencamp's 2008 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the veteran rocker will release a new album as well. Mellencamp's guitarist Mike Wanchic tells Billboard that "The Company We Keep" was recorded over the summer and will be out next year.

• Default is set to release their new as-yet-untitled new studio album on March 25, 2008.

• While most of the Godsmack crew is busy with the side project Another Animal, frontman Sully Erna is plotting his first solo album. He hopes to start recording it in the spring, but there is no definite time limit.

• Panic! at the Disco have set a March 25, 2008, release date for their upcoming as-of-yet untitled second album.

• P.O.D.'s "When Angles And Serpents Dance" is set for an April 8, 2008, release via Columbia / INO Records.

• Phantom Planet have officially signed with Fueled By Ramen Records. The band is currently in the studio recording a new album with hopes for a spring 2008 release.

• Disturbed have wrapped up the recording process for their new album and have begun mixing the disc in Los Angeles. This is the first time the band took the reigns to fully produce their own album. The CD, tentatively titled "Indestructible", is due out in the spring 2008.

• Buckcherry has begun work on the follow-up to their third album, "15". The band has five demos completed and 4 or 5 songs written.

• Green Day have announced they will officially begin recording the follow-up to 2004's "American Idiot" in January 2008. The band has been writing and demoing new material for the album.

• Staind have begun work on their next studio album and will be documenting the process in a series of videos posted on their MySpace page.

• Richard Patrick announced that he was bringing his band Filter back into the fold; the band have titled their upcoming studio album "Anthems For The Damned", the CD is expected to be in stores in March 2008.

• Metallica will reportedly release the first single from their new album via the Rock Band video game. The album is expected in February 2008.

• Extreme are reuniting for a new studio album, their first in 13 years and a tour in 2008; the band line-up includes original members Nuno Bettencourt, Gary Cherone and Pat Badger, along with new drummer Kevin Figueiredo.

• The Black Crowes will release "Warpaint", their first new studio record since 2001, on their own Silver Arrow Records on March 4, 2008.
  

• The Thanksgiving holiday weekend was a sad one for Rock fans, marred by the deaths of Quiet Riot frontman Kevin DuBrow and Hawthorne Heights guitarist Casey Calvert in separate and unrelated incidences. The 52-year-old DuBrow was found dead in his Las Vegas home on Sunday, November 25; Hawthorne Heights' Calvert was found dead on November 24 in his band's tour van outside the 9:30 Club in Northwest Washington, DC. He was only 26-years-of-age.

• Trivium have begun working on new material for their next album.

• Socialburn has officially called it quits; the band's last record "The Beauty Of Letting Go" was released in 2006 via IRock Entertainment, which folded shortly after the release of the album.

• With two tours with singer William DuVall under their collective belts, Alice In Chains is ready to start thinking about a new studio album. Guitarist Jerry Cantrell says the band is toying around with riffs and starting to write a few ideas here and there, but he's reluctant to put a time limit on the project.

• Weezer have set April 22, 2008 as the release date for the band's as-yet-untitled sixth album.

• Uncle Kracker has been doing some more recording for his long-delayed fourth album, "Happy Hour", which likely won't come out before the middle of 2008.

• Secret Machines are busy in the studio working on their next album; despite the loss of founding member Benjamin Curtis, the group, which features core members Brandon Curtis and Josh Garza, is recording the follow-up to 2006's "Ten Silver Drops" in New York.

• Sevendust have tentatively titled their seventh studio album "The 7th Chapter"; the album will be in stores on March 4, 2008.

• Tantric's new album, "The End Begins", is set to be released early next year. The first single, "The One", features guest vocals from Candlebox vocalist Kevin Martin.

• Doves is recording its new album at “a little farmhouse barn” in Cheshire, England, with an eye on a release sometime next year.

• Morrissey has two new releases in the works, a greatest hits collection with two new songs and a new studio record produced by Jerry Finn, who was behind the boards for 2004's "You Are the Quarry" are on tap for 2008.
  

• Taproot has begun the mixing process for their new studio album; provided the band has a new record deal the album could be in stores by March 2008.

• Ra will make their new single "Broken Hearted Soul" available for free download on December 25. Their new album "Black Sun" is scheduled to be released early next year.

• Coldplay is nearing completion of its fourth album; the as-yet-untitled set is due in the first half of 2008 via Capitol.

• Story Of The Year has signed a new record deal with Epitaph. The band is currently in the studio recording their new album which is due out in the spring of 2008.

• Radiohead have confirmed rumors that they have indeed inked a deal with XL Recordings for the release of their latest album "In Rainbows".

• Joe Jackson's first album in five years, "Rain", will arrive January 29, 2008 via Rykodisc. The project features two of the three other original members of Jackson's longtime band, bassist Graham Maby and drummer Dave Houghton.

• Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich spoke to Tom Lanham from Examiner.com recently about a number of topics including the band's long-awaited new album, set for release next February. It's almost finished; the band will be polishing up vocal mixes until December.

• Bullet For My Valentine have titled their new album "Scream, Aim And Fire", the disc is set to be released on February 12, 2008, with the title track scheduled to be released to radio in January.

• Disturbed have tentatively titled their new record "Indestructible"; the band will self-produce their new album which is currently being recorded in Chicago; a spring 2008 release is expected.

• American Music Club will release its ninth album, "The Golden Age", on February 18, 2008, via Merge Records.
  

• The B-52's will release their first album since 1992's "Good Stuff" on February 26, 2008 via Astralwerks; the disc will be titled "Funplex".

• Seven Mary Three will release their sixth studio album "Day And Night Driving" on February 19, 2008, via Icon Records.

• Dishwalla frontman J.R. Richards is hard at work on his first solo album; the new record is going to be called "The Ghost Of Sorrow" and will be in stores in January 2008.

• Nada Surf will return February 5 with its new album, "Lucky"; the Barsuk set is led by the track "See These Bones".

• 10 Years are planning a March 2008 release for their new as-yet-untitled new album; the first single will impact radio in January.

• The Counting Crows new album "Saturday Nights, Sunday Mornings" has been delayed and will now see a January 2008 release instead of the previously announced November 16 date.

• Moby has completed work on his new album, "Last Night", due in the spring via Mute.

• While the members of Blur have indeed reunited, it appears it was just to have a meal together. In a new posting on Blur.com, it is revealed that the four original members “met for an enjoyable lunch” on October 1, but “there are currently no other music plans for Blur”.
  

• Deftones have begun writing for the follow-up to last years "Saturday Night Wrist". Frontman Chino Moreno will balance his time between Deftones and his side project, Team Sleep, who are also working on a new album.

• Godsmack will release a greatest hits collection called "Good Times, Bad Times - 10 Years Of Godsmack" on December 4.

• Three Days Grace has already started work on a follow-up to its 11-month-old sophomore effort, "One-X"; the Toronto-based quartet would like to get the album out in 2008.

• Alanis Morissette's forthcoming studio album will be called "Flavors Of Entanglement", but it does not yet have a release date.

• Mudvayne will release a new album titled "By The People, For The People" on November 27. The disc will include live recordings, demos and other rare tracks in addition to two new songs; fans are able to log on to Mudvayne.com to help chose the track listing, submit album artwork and participate in creating the video for the single "Dull Boy".

• The Killers have announced that they will be releasing an upcoming rarities and B-sides collection titled "Sawdust". The set is due out November 13 led by the first single "Tranquilize"

• System Of A Down members guitarist Daron Malakian and drummer John Dolmayan have formed the band Scars On Broadway. The band will hit the studio soon to begin work on their debut album.

• Ex-L7 frontman Donita Sparks will release her first solo album, "Transmiticate", on January 22, 2008.

• Lenny Kravitz is eyeing February 2008 as the release date for his first album in three years: "It's Time For A Love Revolution".

• Mike Doughty's next album, "Golden Delicious" will arrive early next year via ATO Records.

• The Black Summer Crush, the new band formed by ex-Oleander frontman Thomas Flowers and guitarist Scott Holiday, have almost completed their debut album. A February 2008 release is planned.

• Nonpoint's new album, "Vengeance", is due out on November 6; "March Of War" will be the first single off their upcoming CD.

• Our Lady Peace frontman Raine Maida will release his solo debut titled "The Hunter's Lullaby" on November 13.

• 3rd Strike, best known for their 2002 single "No Light", have reformed with a new line-up and are currently in the studio working on new material.

• On the heels of playing some Rage Against The Machine reunion shows over the summer, frontman Zack De La Rocha has finally put the finishing touches on his long-awaited solo album. No word on a release date.
  

• Putting an end to several months of speculation, it was confirmed on September 13, during a press conference at the O2 that the three surviving members of legendary rock combo Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, would reunite onstage for just the third time in 27 years and will play a one-off show at London's 22,000-capacity O2 arena on November 26 as part of a tribute to Atlantic Records co-founder and chairman emeritus Ahmet Ertegun, who died last December. The drummer for the evening will be Jason Bonham, son of the band's original drummer John Bonham, who died from a heart attack in 1980. The concert will follow the release of a new Atlantic/Rhino two-disc, 24-track best-of Zeppelin set, "Mothership", due November 13.

• Panic! At The Disco drummer Spencer Smith told MTV that the band's sophomore album will be recorded in their home town of Las Vegas and theoretically will have the first single out by the end of 2007, with the new record out in February.

• Radiohead have finished recording their eagerly anticipated new record, the band is currently unsigned and are not expected to release the album until 2008.

• Death Cab For Cutie will hit the studio in the middle of September to begin work on its second Atlantic album. The group plans to record in Seattle, Portland and San Francisco, with an eye on a spring 2008 release.

• Bloodsimple's new album "Red Harvest" is due out on October 30. The first single from the CD will be "Out To Get You".

• Bobaflex will release their new album "Tales From Dirt Town" on October 9.

• Aerosmith will enter the studio on November 1 to begin work on their next album.
  

• R.E.M.'s next studio album is “two-thirds to three-quarters of the way through”, according to Mike Mills. The R.E.M. bassist+keyboardist told Billboard that the band has “another three weeks of recording”. The new album is on target for a spring release in 2008.

• The new album from The Mars Volta, "The Bedlam In Goliath", has been pushed back to an early 2008 release.

• The Eagles' first album of new material in more than 28 years, "Long Road Out Of Eden", will be a double album and is scheduled for an October 30 release.

• The release date for Avenged Sevenfold's new self-titled album has been pushed back to October 30. The first single from the album will be "Almost Easy".

• The Thrills will release their third album, "Teenagers", on October 23 via Capitol Records.

• The Raveonettes' new album, "Lust Lust Lust", will arrive October 9. Having split with Columbia, the Danish duo have signed a new U.S. record deal with 429 Records.

• Everclear has parted ways with Eleven Seven Music; frontman Art Alexakis is currently writing for a new album with hopes to have it in stores next summer.

• Melissa Auf Der Maur has completed her second solo album, "Out Of Our Minds" and it's part of a multidisciplinary Viking-themed project that includes a short film and comic book.

• Shinedown plan to “go for the gusto” on their third album, which the Florida rockers has spent the past 10 months writing and plans to begin recording in the fall.

• Lynam has hit the studio to begin work on their second album. The record will include guest appearances from Hinder and Tom Keifer of Cinderella. The band has also announced they have parted ways with DRT Entertainment.

• Dashboard Confessional will be releasing their upcoming new album "The Shade Of Poison" on October 2, via Vagrant Records.

• Seal will release his fifth studio album, "System", on November 13. It is the singer's first album since 2003.

• After reuniting earlier this year for its first shows in nearly a decade, The Jesus & Mary Chain is heading into the studio to make its first new album since 1998's "Munki". No release date or label affiliation has been announced for the project.

• Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will release their first album together in five years, "Magic", on October 2 via Columbia Records.

• Anberlin has signed with Universal Republic Records for their new album which is due out in mid-2008.

• Counting Crows will release their new studio album "Saturday Nights, Sunday Mornings" in November via Geffen.

• John Mellencamp is working on his 22nd album with producer T-Bone Burnett. Mellencamp is recording the new project at his home studio in Indiana.

• Nonpoint have titled their fifth studio album "Vengeance"; the CD is due out on November 6.

• Originally due in early 2007 and then bumped to the fall, the new Cure album will now not see the light of day until next spring, according to a Geffen spokesperson.

• The Hives have announced release dates for their upcoming album and single. The full-length, "The Black And White Album", is due out October 9 in North America and a day earlier in Britain. It will be preceded by the single "Tick Tick Boom".

• The original members of TRUSTcompany, Kevin Palmer, Josh Moates, Jason Singleton and James Fukai, have announced they will reunite for two shows on October 19 and 20 at Off The Wagon in Montgomery, Alabama. The band has begun writing for a new album which will possibly be released next year.

• Thrice has signed with Vagrant Records for the release of their new album "The Alchemy Index Vols 1&2: Fire And Water". The album will be in stores on October 16 and will be followed by "The Alchemy Index Vols 3&4" in the spring of 2008.

• The Black Crowes have finished recording their new studio album and will begin mixing in September. A spring 2008 release is expected.

• Robert Plant has hooked up with Country-Folk singer Alison Krauss for a duet album entitled "Raising Sand" which is due out October 23.

• Alkaline Trio have signed with Epic Records, their first major label deal. After the Warped Tour wraps, the band will return to the studio later this summer to finish off their new record.

• John Fogerty will release a new album, "Revival", on October 2 on Fantasy Records.

• Slipknot will begin writing for a new album in October. The band plans to release the album in the spring of 2008.

• Queensryche has begun working on the follow-up to last year's "Operation: Mindcrime II" in Seattle. Frontman Geoff Tate tells Billboard.com he hopes the as-yet-untitled set will arrive next summer or fall.

• The Von Bondies plan to return in early 2008 after a three-year break with the Detroit rock group's second major-label effort, "Love, Hate And Then There's You".

• Skindred has set October 23 as the release date for its second album, entitled "Rock Roots Riot".

• She Wants Revenge have announced their sophomore record, "This Is Forever", will be released on October 9.

• While System Of A Down has been on indefinite hiatus, singer Serj Tankian has been running his own record label, Serjical Strike and recording a solo effort. His album, titled "Elect The Dead", is due in October.

• Korn has begun work on a album of cover songs; the band has already recorded covers of Nine Inch Nails' "Head Like A Hole" and "We Care A Lot" by Faith No More; singer Jonathan Davis' list of tracks includes Prince's "Erotic City" and Ozzy Osbourne's "Diary Of A Madman".

• Annie Lennox will unleash her first studio album in four years, "Songs Of Mass Destruction", on October 2 via Arista Records.

• Earshot has posted a rough mix of a new track entitled "Don't Hate Me" on their MySpace page. The band is currently in the studio recording their third studio album.

• Alter Bridge have set October 9 as the date for their new album titled "Blackbird". The first single from the album will be "Rise Today".

• Rammstein front-man Till Lindemann announced on Friday, July 13, that he was leaving the group over “increasing inharmoniousness within the band”. The remaining members wasted no time in finding a replacement. The band announced on Monday 16 that vocalist En Esch will be taking the place.

• AC/DC singer Brian Johnson tells New Jersey's Daily Record that his band is working on a new record. “Malcolm and Angus are in the studio”, he reports. “There's an album in the works and a tour, too, I think. The boys are working on something special. They don't want to do just another album”.

• In the wake of the new "Absolute Garbage" collection, the members of Garbage are eyeballing mid-2008 to begin making their fifth album.

• Seether have titled their new album "Finding Beauty In Negative Spaces"; the CD is tentatively scheduled for an October release.

• Seven Mary Three have finished recording their upcoming new album "Day And Night Driving" and are now in the process of finding a new label.

• Avenged Sevenfold are planning an October release for the self-titled follow-up to 2005's "City Of Evil".

• Mae will release their new album, "Singularity", on August 14, their first for Capitol Records.
  

• In the works since 2003, AFI singer Davey Havok and guitarist Jade Puget will finally unveil their side project, Blaqk Audio, with the album "CexCells" on August 14.

• Ra is currently finishing up their new album "Black Sun" which should be released later this year.

• The Foo Fighters will release their sixth studio album, tentatively titled "Echoes, Silence, Patience And Grace", on September 25.

• Ministry will release its last studio album, "The Last Sucker" on September 18 via 13th Planet/Megaforce. Group leader Al Jourgensen plans to retire the Ministry name following the album and its supporting 2008 tour to focus on other projects.

• Smile Empty Soul are preparing to hit the studio to begin recording demos for their next album.

• 3 Doors Down plan to release their fourth studio album in October.

• Metallica's new album is now slated for release in early 2008. Speaking at Rock Werchter Festival in Belgium, drummer Lars Ulrich said that the backing tracks for the new album were completed in May and that the band would start work on vocals and overdubs in August, with recording set to be completed by November.

• PJ Harvey will return with a new studio album, "White Chalk", in the fall. The set marks a change in direction for Harvey, as the new material was written primarily on piano as opposed to guitar.

• Matchbox 20 are in the studio working with producer Steve Lillywhite on a retrospective hits set titled "Exile On Mainstream" which is set for an October 2 release. The album will include six new tracks and eleven of the bands previous hits.

• After more than a year's worth of inactivity while frontman Rivers Cuomo finished an English degree at Harvard, Weezer has come back to life. The band's sixth album will be available in the first half of 2008.

• The All-American Rejects are writing songs for the follow-up to their hit album "Move Along", the new record isn't expected out until late 2008.

• Depeche Mode singer Dave Gahan will release his second solo album, "Hourglass", later this year; the CD is expected out sometime in October.

• The Verve have announced they have re-united and have begun work on a new album. A new Web site -- www.theverve.tv -- and MySpace page have also been launched.

• Adema's new album "Kill The Headlights" has been pushed back to a August 21 release.

• Third Eye Blind will release a new album tentatively titled "The Hideous Strength" later this year.

• The Mars Volta are currently in the studio recording their new album, "The Bedlam In Goliath". A fall release is expected.

• Oasis will begin work on their seventh studio album on July 3; the band would like to have the album complete by the end of the year.

• Atreyu will release their Hollywood Records debut "Lead Sails Paper Anchor" on August 28.

• Our Lady Peace will be hitting the studio in July to record their first material since the band's 2005 effort "Healthy In Paranoid Times".

• Jack Johnson has begun work on his fifth studio album, and hopes to release early in 2008. Johnson recently built a new headquarters for his Brushfire Records in Los Angeles, complete with recording studios, which are still being built.

• P.O.D.'s Columbia Records debut "When Angels And Serpents Dance" is scheduled for a August 14 release.

• Angeles And Airwaves have titled their new album "I-Empire", the disc is due out this fall. The band has also announced the addition of former 30 Seconds To Mars bassist Matt Wachter following the departure of Ryan Sinn.

• The Cult has inked a deal with Roadrunner Records and a new studio album is currently being recorded in London. The Cult, led as always by vocalist Ian Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy, is eyeing a September release date.
  

• Garbage's upcoming best-of compilation, "Absolute Garbage", is set for a July 17 release; a new single, "Tell Me Where It Hurts" will be included on the set.

• After calling it quits in December 2006, Element Eighty have announced their return. The band will begin work on a new studio album soon with a release expected later this year or early 2008.

• Deftones have already starting writing for a new album. Frontman Chino Moreno told billboard.com that they have set up a backstage writing room while on tour where they are creating new material.

• Adema have announced the title of their upcoming new studio album to be "Kill The Headlights"; the disc will be in stores on July 24.

• Jimmy Eat World will begin mixing their new album on May 28; the disc is due out later this year.

• HIM have pushed the release of their new album "Venus Doom" back to September. The album was originally set to be released on July 10.

• Travis Meeks will hit the studio with drummer Ray Rizzo and bassist Malcom Gold to begin work on a new Days Of The New album, entitled "Purple", this summer; the album is due out early next year.

• Fuel have announced the title and release date of their upcoming new album and the first with new lead singer Toryn Green; the disc will be titled "Angels And Devils" and it will be available August 7.

• Dave Navarro has announced The Panic Channel is now on hiatus; the band have also revealed that they have been dropped by Capitol Records. Navarro will begin a new project with drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Siggy in June.

• Hot Hot Heat will release "Happiness LTD.", their third album for Sire Records, on September 11.

• Ben Harper hunkered down in a Paris recording studio with his band The Innocent Criminals to track his new album, "Lifeline", due August 28 via Virgin. The 11-song set was completed in just seven days using only analog equipment.

• Blur have re-united with guitarist Graham Coxon and will hit the studio this summer to work on a new album.

• MxPx will release its eighth studio set, "Secret Weapon", on July 17; the trio's upcoming album marks a return to Tooth & Nail following MxPx's 2000 departure for A&M.

• KT Tunstall is planning a September release for her second album, titled "Drastic Fantastic".

• The Raconteurs are in a Nashville recording studio working on the follow-up to their 2006 debut "Broken Boy Soldiers" and hope to have a new album out sometime next year.

• System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian will end an extended break from the spotlight this fall with the release of his debut solo album, titled "Elect The Dead". The record is currently being mixed and tentatively scheduled for a September/October release.

• Alter Bridge is currently in Virginia Beach wrapping up the recording process for their sophomore album with a fall release expected.

• Beastie Boys are ready to release their new album in June; the new record will be called "The Mix Up" and Mike D recently told the U.K.'s NME that the new work will be “radically different” from its predecessor, "To The 5 Boroughs".

• Modern Day Zero will release their new album "The Wait" on May 15.

• Ben Lee has revealed he is collaborating with a wide variety of artists on his next album, "Ripe". Lee has been visited in the studio by Benji Madden of Good Charlotte, Sara Watkins of Nickel Creek and the members of Rooney. "Ripe" is expected out in September.

• Velvet Revolver's new album "Libertad" is currently set for a July 3 release; the first single will be "She Builds Quick Machines".

• Lifehouse have completed work on their fourth studio album, "Who We Are"; it will be in stores in June.

• Yellowcard have finished work on their new "Paper Walls" album, which will be out this summer.

• Dream Theater will release their new album "Systematic Chaos" on June 5 via Roadrunner Records.

• The Chemical Brothers will release their sixth album, "We Are The Night", on June 19; the first single will be "Do It Again".

• Al Gore and the organizers of the "Live Earth" global warming concerts have announced the locations and venues for all of the 7/7/07 shows. The concerts, which will raise awareness about the climate crisis, will commence in Sydney and end with the U.S. gig.

• H.I.M. have announced plans to release a greatest hits album on May 8; the Finnish rockers will also release their new studio album, "Venus Doom", on July 10.

• Veteran alt-Rock trio Buffalo Tom will break a nine-year hiatus from the studio with the July 10 release of "Three Easy Pieces". The 13-track set will be the first release on Danny Goldberg's new label, Ammal, through New West. It's also Buffalo Tom's first new album since 1998's "Smitten".

• Ozzy Osbourne has set "Black Rain" as the title of his new solo album, which he plans to release sometime in June. The first single off of the CD will be titled "I Don't Want To Stop".

• Adema will release their as-yet-untitled Immortal Records debut in June.

• Rancid singer Tim Armstrong will release his long-awaited solo album, "A Poet's Life", on May 22, along with a bonus DVD.

• British rock staple Nick Lowe's first album in almost six years, "At My Age", will arrive June 26 via Yep Roc; the 12-track set includes guest turns by the Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde and Rockabilly guitarist Bill Kirchen.

• Atreyu recently entered a Los Angeles studio to begin work on their fourth album, the first for Hollywood Records. The disc is tentatively scheduled for a late summer release.

• Tegan & Sara have completed work on their third album, "The Con", due July 24 via Vapor/Sanctuary Records.

• The White Stripes are expected to release their sixth full-length album, "Icky Thump", this June. The Detroit-raised duo have inked a deal with Warner Bros., having exited now-defunct V2 records.

• Spoon has set a July 10 release date for its as-yet-untitled new album. The 10-track set is the follow-up to 2005's "Gimme Fiction".

• Lifehouse's fourth studio album is nearing completion and will be released later this year.

• Hurt is currently in pre-production for their next album, "Volume II", which should hit stores in August.

• Bad Religion have titled their new album "New Maps Of Hell", the 17-track set is due out on July 10.

• The Arctic Monkeys' second album, "Favourite Worst Nightmare", will be out on April 24.

• Annie Lennox is currently working on a new LP, her first album in four years; the disc is set to be released toward the end of the year.

• Boston vocalist Brad Delp, who sang on classic rock staples like "More Than A Feeling" "Don't Look Back" and "Long Time" was found dead at his southern New Hampshire home on March 9, according to local police. He was 55.

• R.E.M. will record its 14th studio album this spring; the project is expected before the end of the year via Warner Bros.

• Taproot have announced they plan to have recording for their new album wrapped up within the next 2 months and are eyeing an early summer release date.

• Panic! At The Disco are currently working on its sophomore album; the CD is expected by the end of 2007.

• KoRn aims to release their eighth studio record this July, according to a recent radio interview with the band.

• Hot Hot Heat have completed their new studio album, "Happiness Ltd.", which will be released later this year.

• The Mars Volta will begin working on their new album next April with hopes to have it in stores by the fall.

• The White Stripes announced on their Web site that they have finished recording and mixing their sixth studio album, "Icky Thump"; this is the band's first release under a new deal with Warner Music Group.

• Seether will begin pre-production for their third studio album shortly with a release expected in August.

• Flaw / Five.Bolt.Main front-man Chris Volz is currently working on a solo album with producer Matt Chiaravalle. The disc is due out in the fall.

• Megadeth's new album, "United Abominations" has once again been delayed; the disc will now see a May 15 release.

• Drowning Pool have titled their new album "Full Circle"; the disc will be released later this year via Eleven Seven Music.

• 12 Stones are in the studio working on material for a new album, it should be out sometimes this year.

• A prospective Van Halen tour with original frontman David Lee Roth has derailed. Sources tell Billboard.com the decision to postpone the outing indefinitely was not due to any internal strife among band members. Rolling Stone says that it's official: the tour will not be happening at all.
  Also, a new Van Halen best-of disc highlighting the Roth years was set to be released by Rhino Records this fall, to capitalize on the tour and the band's induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; now Blabbermouth.com reports that the compilation has also been “indefinitely postponed”.

• Texan rockers Submersed is back in the studio working toward their next album.

• Maroon 5 will release their new record this year; a release date has not yet been announced, although it is expected to be in May. Guitarist James Valentine said during an online chat with fan club members that the project is titled "It Won't Be Soon Before Long" and that the first single will be "Makes Me Wonder".

• Ill Nino will release their new album "Enigma" in June via their new label, Cement Shoes Records.

• Tori Amos will release her ninth studio album, "American Doll Posse", on May 1 via Epic Records.

• Confirming much speculation, Chris Cornell announced in a press release for his upcoming solo record "Carry On": “due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences, I am permanently leaving the band Audioslave”; Cornell's second solo album is ready to go and will be out on May 1 via Suretone/Interscope.

• Counting Crows are in a New York studio with producer Gil Norton recording their first album since 2002's "Hard Candy"; the as-yet-untitled effort is expected before the end of the year.

• Queens of the Stone Age are planning a June release for their fifth album "Era Vulgaris".

• Dope have officially announced the addition of their new drummer Andrew 'Angel' Bartolotta; the band will release its new studio album later this year.

• Earshot will release their new studio album through their managements newly created label, In De Goot Recordings, in the spring.

• Dream Theater have announced that they've inked a deal with Roadrunner Records; their new studio album, "Systematic Chaos", is due out in June with a world tour to follow.

• Thousand Foot Krutch will hit the studio in the next few months to record their new album; the disc will be titled "The Flame in All Of Us" and should be in stores this fall.

• Emerson Hart of Tonic has signed a deal with EMI/Blue Note/Back Porch Records for the release of his solo debut "Cigarettes And Gasoline"; the album will arrive in stores on May 22 with the first single, "If You're Gonna Leave", hitting radio in March.

• Arctic Monkeys have announced that their sophomore album "Favourite Worst Nightmare" will be out internationally on April 23; the lead single is titled "Brianstorm".

• According to the NME, The Distillers have split up after three records. The Punk-Rock band has been dormant for a few years, as both members of its rhythm section left the group and frontwoman Brodie Dalle gave birth to her daughter with Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme. However, Dalle and guitarist Tony Bradley have announced a new band called Spinnerette.

• Linkin Park have set April 30 as the U.K. release date for their new album, the still untitled LP will be released in the U.S. on May 1st and the first single should hit radio in March.

• Bullet For My Valentine have entered the studio to begin work on their new full-length disc; the album's release is expected later this year.

• Travis will release their fifth album, "The Boy With No Name", in the U.K. on May 7 and will release "Closer" as the lead single.

• The Academy Is... will release their new album "Santi" on April 3; "Big Mess On Our Hands Tonight" will be the first single.

• Eagles are working on a new album, their first LP of all-new-material in nearly 30 years.

• Yellowcard is currently in the studio working on their fourth studio album, which is expected in stores this summer.

• According to Rolling Stone, David Lee Roth and Van Halen got back together last month to rehearse 14 songs at Eddie Van Halen's home studio in Hollywood; the current line-up of the veteran Hard-Rock band includes Eddie's teenage son Wolfgang on bass.

• Kid Rock is hard at work on his first new, studio record in close to four years.

• Crowded House will reunite for a tour this year; the reunion, which was reported by several Australian newspapers and confirmed on the Neil Finn fan site Frenz.com, will also come with a new studio album.

• Shadows Fall have set April 3 as the release for their Atlantic Records debut, "Threads Of Life".

• Marilyn Manson has nearly completed work on his upcoming solo album, set to come out this spring; the album is titled "Eat Me, Drink Me".

• Evans Blue have announced the title of their sophomore album to be "The Pursuit Begins When This Portrayal Of Life Ends".

• Prodigy has established its own label, Ragged Flag, which will handle the band's next album and projects from any subsequent signings; a release date for the forthcoming album has yet to be unveiled.

• Fountains Of Wayne will release their fourth studio record, "Traffic And Weather", on April 3. The first single, "Someone To Love", will arrive at radio this February.

• 3 Doors Down are planning a July/August 2007 release for the band's fourth studio album. The band will begin writing and recording the album in the next couple weeks in Nashville.

• Franz Ferdinand is planning an early 2008 release for their third album; singer Alex Kapranos tells the NME he hopes to gather up the band later this year and enter the studio by the summertime.

• Nonpoint have announced on their MySpace page that they have begun writing their fifth album.

• Chevelle has announced an April 3rd release date for their newest album, "Vena Sera"; the first single will be "Well Enough Alone".

• Nine Inch Nails has set "Year Zero" as the title of its new album, which is due out in April.

• Seether have entered the studio to begin work on their third studio album; an April/May release is expected.

• Default is currently working with Nickelback front-man Chad Kroeger on their fourth studio album; the disc is expected later this year.

• The Lostprophets have revealed to British magazine Kerrang! that they plan to hit the studio this year to record a new album which they hope to have out by this fall.

• Stroke 9 is currently in the studio working on a new album; the disc is expected to be in stores early this year.

• Disturbed have decided against a second leg of their Music As A Weapon tour and will instead begin work on their fourth studio album.

• The Used is currently putting the finishing touches on its third album which is due out in April.

• Earshot plans to release a new album in the spring with a tour to follow.

• Taproot have posted online some new music videos of the material that will be on their new album coming out sometime this year.

• Rumors are circulating that The Police are planning a full reunion tour for later this year and will begin rehearsing next month for a trek that could kick off as soon as May or June. 2007 is the 30th anniversary of the band and A&M Records is planning some sort of specialty release to honor the occasion.

• Billy Corgan has confirmed that The Smashing Pumpkins will tour in 2007 in support of their currently untitled new album in a MySpace blog; the new album is expected to be in stores by May.

• Despite going on hiatus after last year's Ozzfest, System Of A Down have not officially broken up... but they still could.
