Deftones front-man Chino Moreno was recently in the studio writing
and recording on a track with Tommy Lee for the upcoming new Methods
Of Mayhem record due out sometime next year via Roadrunner Records.
Steven Tyler has quit Aerosmith, according to the band's guitarist
Joe Perry. In August, Tyler broke his shoulder after falling off stage
while performing in South Dakota. Perry admitted that following the
accident he and Tyler didn't speak for more than a month, prompting
rumours the band's future was in jeopardy.
Blaqk Audio, the electronic-oriented side-project from AFI members
Davey Havok and Jade Puget, is waiting in the wings. While the two are
busy touring the world in support of AFI's latest album, "Crash
Love", Puget tells Billboard.com that the Blaqk Audio's second
album, "Bright Black Heaven", is almost finished.
Slash has announced the roster of artists who will perform on his upcoming
new solo album, "Slash & Friends", including Myles Kennedy,
Dave Grohl, Flea, Chris Cornell, Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne
and more.
12 Stones have announced that their original bassist, Kevin Dorr, has
returned to the line-up. The band are currently working on a new album
which will include a cover of K's Choice's hit "Not An Addict".
Bob Seger is raiding his vaults for a 10-song set dubbed "Early
Seger, Vol. 1" that will be released November 24 exclusively via
Meijers stores in the Midwest before becoming available on Seger's official

back in the studio working on their upcoming new album due out sometime

In a recent interview, Motorhead's iconic frontman Lemmy confirmed
that the band will be entering the recording studio in February of next
year to begin work on their next studio album.
OCTOBER
2010 will see the return of The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, in retrospect
at least. Starting in the late spring, Shout! Factory will begin a catalog
campaign that includes a new best-of compilation as well as expanded
reissues of the group's studio albums. Spencer promises a lot
of additional tracks but, he adds, The Blues Explosion remains
very much in deep hiatus though it did play a show during
the summer in New York City.
Stone Temple Pilots have announced that they will continue work on
their upcoming new album after their current tour ends in early 2010.
The band are planning for a spring/summer release.

John Mayer is ready to unveil his fourth studio album, "Battle
Studies", on November 17 via Columbia Records.

You Had No Heart", sometime early next year.
The Lostprophets will release their upcoming new album "The Betrayed"
on January 11, 2010.
Live front-man Ed Kowalczyk has confirmed that he is indeed working
on his first solo album, no projected release date has been set.
OK Go has set January 12, 2010 as the release date for their long-awaited
new album, titled "Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky".
Pavement, one of indie alt-Rock's most influential groups is set to
reunite in 2010. The band will play select cities on a world tour next
year, however they have no plans for further touring or recording. A
greatest hits compilation will be released to coincide with the tour.
Billy Corgan has been saying for a while that he planned for the next
Smashing Pumpkins release to be something different than the traditional
album format. The album will be made up of 44 songs given
away for free online over the next year of so. The songs will be occasionally
compiled into physical releases as limited edition EPs, with 11 EPs
of four songs each. When the entire album titled "Teargarden
By Kaleidyscope", is completed, it will be released as a deluxe
box set.
Rob Zombie will release his upcoming new album "Hellbilly Deluxe
2: Noble Jackals, Penny Dreadfuls And The Systematic Dehumanization
Of Cool" on November 10.
Methods Of Mayhem has crafted a truly interactive concept for an album
collaboration, in which the Tommy Lee-fronted band is inviting fans,
musicians and anyone with a great idea to help record their upcoming
album. Participants will also have a chance to perform with the band
at their record release show. The album, entitled "Public Mayhem",
is set for release in early 2010.
Devo has signed a deal with their original label home, Warner Bros.
Records. The label will reissue deluxe CD and limited-edition colored
vinyl versions of the band's first two albums on November 3, that same
day, the band will launch a series of live shows. Next year, Devo plans
to release a new studio album and do a proper world tour.
Vampire Weekend have announced that their new album will be called
"Contra" and will be released on January 12, 2010, on XL Recordings.

Echo And The Bunnymen keyboard player Jake Drake-Brockman has died
in a motorcycle crash. He was 53-years-old. Brockman played with the
British band for several years before becoming an official member in
1989. Brockman played on the band's new album, "The Fountain",
due out next month.
Goo Goo Dolls have completed work on their ninth studio album due out
sometime early next year.
AUGUST
The Almost return with their sophomore effort "Monster Monster"
on November 3. However, the band will release a new EP titled "Monster"
exclusively at Hot Topic starting October 6.
Flaw have announced that they are putting the final touches on their
upcoming new album which they are planning to release this November.
Foo Fighters have set November 3 as the release date for their new
greatest hits album; the record will feature two new songs including
their new single "Wheels".
Rob Zombie will release his as-yet-untitled new solo album on November
10.
Everclear have inked a new deal with 429 Records and will release a
new album titled "In A Different Light" on October 6. The
11-track set will feature two new songs as well as re-worked versions
of some of their hits.

Lit drummer Allen Shellenberger has passed away August 13, 2009, after
losing his battle with brain cancer, surrounded by his loving family,
the band and close friends. He was 39 years old. Allen was a founding
member of the California modern Rock outfit over two decades ago and
was able to perform with the band until last fall.
Former Fuel vocalist Brett Scallions has formed the new band Re-Fueled
with bass player and Fuel co-founder Jeff Abercrombie, ex-Buckcherry
guitarist Yogi and former Candiria drummer Ken Schalk.
After months of online rumors, Adema have confirmed that they have
reunited with their original singer Mark 'Marky' Chavez, Half-brother
of Korn's Jonathan Davis. The band are planning a new album with the
new line-up sometime in 2010.
Guitar legend Les Paul has passed away at the age of 94. Paul died
from complications of severe pneumonia, according to a statement from
Gibson Guitar. Paul became famous for his guitar playing as well as
innovation with the instrument itself. The solid body Les Paul guitar
model was introduced by Gibson in 1952.
Weezer has announced that their seventh studio album will be out on
October 27. The band has been in the studio recording lately and debuted
a few new songs live in South Korea.
Wolfmother has set an October 13 release date for "Cosmic Egg",
the follow-up to the Australian rockers' self-titled 2005 debut.
Kill Hannah's brand new album entitled "Wake Up The Sleepers"
is being released on September 29.
Two years after reuniting, The Verve have apparently split up again.
The Guardian reports that guitarist Nick McCabe and bassist Simon Jones
have not spoken to frontman Richard Ashcroft since last year and have
started a new band.
36 Crazyfists will release their upcoming new live DVD on October 27
via Ferret Music. The band will be hitting the studio in November to
begin recording their next full-length album with a 2010 spring release

My Chemical Romance had officially begun recording the follow-up to
2006's "The Black Parade". As opposed to the high-concept

JULY
Atreyu have completed the follow-up to 2007's acclaimed "Lead
Sails Paper Anchor". The album, titled "Congregation Of The
Damned" will be released October 27.
Powerman 5000 has set "Somewhere On The Other Side Of Nowhere"
as the title of its new album, due on October 6.
Alien Ant Farm have announced that they are working on the follow-up
to their 2006 release "Up In The Attic".
Chad Smith recently told Billboard that The Red Hot Chili Peppers will
end their hiatus this fall and reconvene in October, after taking two
years off. The band toured extensively behind 2005's double-album "Stadium
Arcadium".
Say Anything will release their third record, a self-titled effort,
on October 13.
3 Doors Down singer Brad Arnold will tie the knot on September 12.
The singer got engaged to fiancée Jennifer Sanderford in late
2008. After the wedding, Arnold says the group will begin recording
a follow-up to their 2008 self-titled effort.
Matchbox Twenty front-man Rob Thomas recently hooked up with INXS in
Australia and laid down vocals for a newly recorded version of that
band's 1988 hit "Never Tear Us Apart". There's no word yet
on when the song will be made available.
Thousand Foot Krutch's new album, "Welcome To The Masquerade",
will be released on September 8 via Tooth & Nail.
Blindside's new as-yet-untitled album will be released worldwide in
the first half of 2010; recording will take place in Los Angeles in
September with Grammy-nominated producer Howard Benson.
Angels & Airwaves will release their upcoming new album/feature film
titled "Love" on Valentines Day next year, February 14.
30 Seconds To Mars will release its long-delayed third album "This
Is War" on October 20, following a truce between the EMI-owned label,
which had sued the group for $30 million. Soon after the announcement
of the lawsuit settlement, frontman Jared Leto revealed that their new
album has had its release date pushed back from April 2009, to sometime
in September. Although these dates have been changed many times, 30 Seconds
To Mars have promised to release "This Is War" by October 2009.
The Raveonettes have revealed that "In And Out Of Control"
is the title of their new album. The danish alt-Rock duo's fourth studio
record is slated for an October 6 release on Vice.
Breaking Benjamin have set a September 29 release date for their upcoming,
as-yet-untitled new album.
Steve Perry, former Journey frontman is working on a new album at Dave
Grohl's 606 Studio. The singer released his last solo album, "For
The Love Of Strange Medicine", in 1994.
John Fogerty will release "The Blue Ridge Rangers Rides Again"
on September 1. On this album, Fogerty brings back the concept behind
his solo debut, 1973's "The Blue Ridge Rangers", as he dusts
off a collection of his favorite classic songs.
On July 20, Adam "MCA" Yauch of The Beastie Boys announced
in a video statement that he was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his
left parotid (salivary) gland. The tumor was found early and is very treatable,
however, Yauch will require surgery and radiation treatment. Luckily,
the cancer in not in a location that will affect Yauch's vocal chords.
In light of this news, the Beasties have cancelled all upcoming tour dates
on their schedule and will also postpone the release of their new album,
"Hot Sauce Committee".

Coheed And Cambria announced that they are working on a new album which
they plan on releasing sometime early next year.
Day Of Fire have announced that they won't be releasing their new record,
"Losing All", until early next year.
Brand New had previously announced that the title of their upcoming
record would be "And One Head Can Never Die", but apparently
it is now simply titled "Daisy". The release date is set for

Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington's long-in-the-works side project,
Dead By Sunrise, has finally completed their debut album. Titled "Out
Of Ashes", the record has a tentative fall release scheduled through
Warner Bros. Records.
Lynyrd Skynyrd will release their new album "God & Guns"
on September 29 via Loud & Proud/Roadrunner Records. The band considers
the album to be a tribute to the past and to the future of this
band, too, according to frontman Johnny Van Zant.
Bruce Hornsby is very busy working on various projects including his
next album "Levitate". The 12-song set, is slated for a September
15 release via Verve and finds the multi-instrumentalist collaborating
with his band the Noisemakers on their first recordings together since
2004's "Halcyon Days"; Eric Clapton guests on the song "Space
Is The Place".
AFI bassist Hunter Burgan has spilled the beans about the band's upcoming
album. According to his Twitter, the new record is titled "Crash
Love" and will be out on September 29.
Panic At The Disco guitarist Ryan Ross and bassist Jon Walker are leaving
the band to embark on a musical excursion of their own,
this is what they announced on July 6. The band had been writing on
tour last fall with hopes of releasing their third album sometime this

Slayer have announced a late summer release for their ninth

Former Rock Star Supernova front-man Lukas Rossi has put together a
new supergroup named Interview. The band includes P.O.D. guitarist Marcos
Curiel, former Chevelle bassist Joe Loeffler and former Papa Roach drummer

Otep are in the studio where they are working on their upcoming new
album "Smash The Control Machine" due out August 18. The album
will mark the band's debut with Vitory Records as well as the reunion
with former members Mark 'Moke' Bistany on drums and Rob Patterson on
guitar.
Arctic Monkeys will release their third studio album on August 25.
The band has chosen 10 songs from their sessions with producers James

Pearl Jam's new album, "Backspacer", is set to be released

Harvey Danger, known for their massive '90s hit "Flagpole Sitta",
have called it a day. The band had a 15-year run as a cult favorite

Sade Adu, the reclusive quiet storm Soul signer who takes
notoriously long breaks between releases, has regrouped with the band
that bears her name and is recording her first album of new material
since 2000's "Lovers Rock". Sade hopes to put the record out
by the end of 2009 though, despite rumors, there is no set release date
on the calendar.
MAY
As I Lay Dying have announced that they are expecting to release a
new album next year.
The Used's new album, "Artwork", is set to arrive in stores
on August 10; the band have selected "Blood On My Hands" as
the first single off the CD.
Needtobreathe have completed their third studio album, "The Outsiders";
the disc will drop this summer.
Cheap Trick is stepping outside of the label world to release its next
studio album, "The Latest", itself; the 13-track set will
come out on June 23.
In a new online post from Weezer, the band reveals that they recorded
some new material over the winter for a new album that should be out
later in 2009; a new Weezer single could be released as soon as this
summer.
The Beastie Boys announced the title of their new album via an e-mail
to fans: "Hot Sauce Committee". The new record is due out
in September.
Allele are in the studio working on their upcoming new album titled

Bassist Donald 'Ean' Evans of the Southern-Rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd
has died of cancer at his home in Mississippi. He was 48. Evans' death
is the second for the group this year, following the passing of keyboardist
Billy Powell in January.
Relient K have given a name to their upcoming album, "Forget And
Not Slow Down" is the follow-up to their previous release, "Five
Score And Seven Years Ago".
Linkin Park have revealed that their new single will be titled "New
Divide" and will be the lead single from the upcoming movie soundtrack

30 Seconds To Mars are set to release their new album, tentatively titled

APRIL
Atreyu is in a Los Angeles studio with producer Bob Marlette working
on their next album; the band has made 30 song demos and plans to narrow
it down to 16, with the goal being to finish recording by June.
Jet will release their new album "Shaka Rock" on August 25,
the first single is slated to be "She's A Genius".
Creed's highly rumored reunion has been confirmed with all four original
members getting together for a tour and a new album which will likely
be titled "Full Circle". Stapp and Tremonti already have six
demos for the new album, which they plan on recording shortly in Nashville.
Gavin Rossdale tells Billboard that he is writing for a new album, but
hasn't decided if it will be a follow-up to his solo debut or for the
first Bush album since 2001. Rossdale says a Bush return would depend
on guitarist Nigel Pulsford, who has opted to stay with his family rather
than return to action with the '90s rockers.
Nonpoint have announced that they will release a new album February 2010;
the band parted ways with their label, Bieler Bros. Records, in January.
Alice In Chains have signed with Virgin Records for the release of their

Rancid will release their upcoming new record "Let The Dominoes
Fall" on June 2; the album will be the band's first material in five
years.
Angels and Airwaves are in the studio working on their third album which
they hope to release late 2009 or early 2010 due to Tom DeLonge's commitments
with Blink-182.
The Strokes have announced they are back in the studio working on a fourth
album after a nearly three-year hiatus. The follow-up to 2006's "First
Impressions Of Earth" is expected to drop before the close of 2009.
The Mars Volta have titled their fifth studio album "Octahedron";
a June release is expected.
Lifehouse has announced that they are about 50 percent done with their
upcoming new album which they hope to release sometime this summer. The
band also revealed that Chris Daughtry has worked with them in the studio.
The Smashing Pumpkins are currently working on five new songs in the
studio; the band recently announced the departure of long-time drummer
Jimmy Chamberlin.
Rob Thomas has announced the release of his second solo album, "Cradlesong";

Incubus' greatest hits album, "Monuments & Melodies", will
be in stores May 5. The set will include the band's previous thirteen

FEBRUARY
Cypress Hill is finishing its first studio album in five years and planning
a fall release on Suburban Noize Records.
Korn have announced that they are in the studio writing for their ninth
album; frontman Jonathan Davis told Pulse of Radio that the band plans
to return to the sound of their earlier albums.
Styx, REO Speedwagon and .38 Special are teaming up for a 29-city tour
and in celebration of the trek Styx and REO have teamed up to record a
joint song called "Can't Stop Rockin'" which was cowritten by
Tommy Shaw and Kevin Cronin.
Wilco will release their next studio record sometime in June.
Smile Empty Soul will release their upcoming new album, "Consciousness",
on June 16.
Thousand Foot Krutch are shooting for a fall release for their upcoming
new album which they have titled "Welcome To The Masquerade".
Barenaked Ladies lead singer and guitarist Steven Page has left band
by mutual agreement to pursue solo projects. Page was arrested
last summer for possession of cocaine just weeks after the band released
a children's album.
Dredg have titled their upcoming new album "The Pariah, The Parrot,
The Delusion"; the disc will be in stores on May 19.
AFI have revealed that "Crash Love" is the title of their next
album, which is set for release later this year on Interscope Records.
Tori Amos' new album has been titled "Abnormally Attracted To Sin"
and is due out this spring; it will be her first with Universal Republic

Evans Blue have chosen Dan Chandler as their new lead singer; the band
is currently in the studio recording their self-titled album that they
hope to release sometime this summer.
Erik Rogers has abandoned plans to utilize the Stereomud moniker for
his new project with guitarist Billy Grey and ex-Stuck Mojo drummer Rodney
Beaubouef. The group, whose line-up is completed by bassist Jake Kitchens,
has been renamed Dangerous New Machine.
Former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha is part of a new band, Tinted
Windows, that also includes members of Cheap Trick, Fountains Of Wayne
and Hanson; the group have finished recording their debut album which
they hope to release sometime this spring.
OK Go will release the follow-up to 2005's "Oh No" sometime
this summer.
Sum 41 have announced plans to release a new album later in 2009; singer
Deryck Whibley wrote on the band's official site that the group had started
writing for an EP, but now they have enough material for a full record.
Conor Oberst has wrapped his second album with his Mystic Valley Band,
"Outer South" and will release it May 5 on Merge Records.
INXS has decided to part ways with their latest lead singer, JD Fortune;
it is unclear if INXS will seek a new singer or simply call it a day.
Nine Inch Nails will tour later this year with the reunited Jane's Addiction;
following the tour, Trent Reznor has announced that NIN will be going
on an indefinite hiatus.
Electric Light Orchestra bassist Kelly Groucutt has passed away at the
age of 62 after suffering a heart attack. Groucutt joined ELO in time
to record their 1975 album "Face The Music" and left the group
in 1983.
Chimaira's new album, "The Infection", will hit stores on April
21.
Ozzy Osbourne is reportedly putting his annual Ozzfest summer festival
on hold this year while he completes a new album; the follow-up to 2007's
"Black Rain" is due around Thanksgiving.
Green Day is nearly finished with its next album which the band has entitled
"21st Century Breakdown"; the Butch Vig-produced, due in May
from Warner Bros. is split into three acts: "Heroes And Cons",
"Charlatans And Saints" and "Horseshoes And Handgrenades,

Bowling For Soup announced that they are in the studio working on their

A re-united Blink-182 are currently in the studio working on their first
studio album since their 2003 self-titled release; the album is expected
to be in stores later this year with a summer tour in the works.
In a recent blog posting, former Dark New Day guitarist Clint Lowery
stated the release of the band's sophomore album is unlikely; the disc
had been expected to be released in some form in 2009, however it has
yet to be released. Lowery stated the album may eventually be released
to iTunes.
Scott Weiland says Stone Temple Pilots will release a comeback record
sometime in 2010; in an interview with Spin, Weiland revealed that the
DeLeo brothers have begun writing music.
Veteran Scottish Rock act Simple Minds has put the finishing touches
on its next album, "Graffiti Soul", due May 25 from Universal.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs upcoming album is called "It's Blitz!" and
will be released on April 14; first single will be "Zero".
Pearl Jam is about to hit the studio for a two-week session in Los Angeles
with producer Brendan O'Brien as it continues work on its ninth studio
album, which the band plans to self-release in the United States.
311 have titled their ninth studio album "Uplifter", which

in four years, on April 7 via Astralwerks.
Queensrÿche envisions war through the eyes of a soldier with their
upcoming concept album "American Soldier"; Rhino has reportedly
set a March 31 release date for the band's twelfth studio release.
JANUARY
Lynyrd Skynyrd keyboardist Billy Powell has passed away at his home in
Florida at the age of 56. Powell was one of the two surviving band members
from the famous 1977 plane crash that took the lives of three members
of Lynyrd Skynyrd.
32 Leaves have set February 14, as the tentative release date for their
new album "Panoramic".
Silversun Pickups will release "Swoon", the follow up to their
breakthrough debut "Carnavas", on April 14.
Green Day's as-yet-untitled new studio album is reportedly set to drop
in early May; the band began recording the album in October with producer
Butch Vig.
Decyfer Down's sophomore release, "Crash", is set to be released
on May 5. The disc has seen a number of setbacks due to the re-tracking
of vocals with new front-man TJ Harris. Harris joined the band in October
2008 and replaced former singer Caleb Oliver.
Tommy Lee's side-project, Methods Of Mayhem, are working on their first
album since their 1999 debut. The band hopes to begin recording as soon
as Mötley Crüe are finished touring at the end of March.
Depeche Mode have titled their upcoming album "Sounds Of The Universe",
set for release on April 21, the first single will be "Wrong".
The Brit Rock veterans will head out later this year on a massive world
tour.
Corey Taylor, masked man of Slipknot and unmasked man in Stone Sour,
is making plans to record his next album under his own name.
Three Days Grace is currently in the studio working on a new album, which
they hope to release this year.
Ex-Blink 182 and current +44 front-man, Mark Hoppus announced in an interview
that he is working on his first solo album; in the interview Hoppus all
but comes out and says that +44 are finished after providing news that
Travis Barker is also working on his own album.
Evans Blue will begin work shortly on their new album with their new
front-man; the new vocalist replaces Kevin Matisyn, who left the band
in October 2008 and will be named shortly. The as-yet-untitled album is
expected to be released later this year and will be the first album since
the band parted ways with Hollywood Records.
Thursday's Epitaph Records debut "Common Existence" will hit
stores on March 10.
Guitarist Ron Asheton of legendary band The Stooges was found dead in
his home in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was 60. Asheton, along with his brother
Scott on drums, Iggy Pop on vocals and original bassist Dave Alexander,
formed The Stooges in Detroit in 1967.
Papa Roach will release their upcoming new album "Metamorphosis"
on March 24.
SOiL is currently in the studio recording its new album, to be released
via Driven Music Group; the disc is tentatively scheduled for a spring
2009 release.
Aerosmith have announced that they are working on their first new album
of original material since 2001's "Just Push Play"; there's
no date for the new record, but it's expected to be out sometime this
year via Columbia.
