Wayne Static, frontman for Industrial-Metal band Static-X, has died in his sleep on October 31 at the age of 48.

 

Deftones have officially resumed the writing process for their next album. The group had begun writing for the album early this year before disbanding to focus on other matters.

 

Jack Bruce, the bassist and co-founder of influential Rock trio Cream, has died. He was 71.

 

The Charlatans will release their twelfth album, "Modern Nature", on January 26, 2015, via on BMG Chrysalis.

Coal Chamber have begun the pre-production for their comeback album and the band will begin recording the effort next month, frontman Dez Fafara has revealed.

 

 

SEPTEMBER

 

Pink Floyd will release their first new album in 20 years, "The Endless River", on November 10. The album is a tribute to keyboardist Richard Wright, who died from cancer in 2008 at the age of 65.

 

GWAR have announced Kim Dylla -- AKA Vulvatron -- will join Blothar on vocal duties in the band. Her appointment comes after the death of former frontman Dave Brockie, best known as Oderus Urungus, who died in March following an accidental heroin overdose.

 

AC/DC are set to release "Rock Or Bust" on November 28, the Australian band's first album without guitarist Malcolm Young. Sources connected to the Young family have said AC/DC co-founder, guitarist and songwriter, Malcolm Young, has been moved into full-time care in a nursing home facility in Sydney's eastern suburbs specialising in dementia.

 

Rob Zombie has announced that his new album is nearly complete. Zombie didn't give an exact release date for the record, he did say he was aiming for some time at the beginning of 2015.

 

Queensryche are working on material for their second album with frontman Todd La Torre, with a view to releasing it early next year.

 

Clutch will start recording their 11th album in January. Frontman Neil Fallon says they're not aiming to follow the format of 2013's "Earth Rocker". The band will spend the next three months in pre-production before aiming to complete studio work by March 2015.

 

Chimaira have officially broken up. After several long-term issues the Cleveland modern metallers have stated the end of the band via their official Facebook page as well as their homepage.

AUGUST

 

Breaking Benjamin has posted a new video at the band's Facebook page in which the group's all-new line-up is revealed. Frontman Ben Burnley is the only original member left in the band.

 

Bush have announced they will release their sixth album, "Man On The Run", via Zuma Rock Records on October 21.

 

Rev Theory will release a new single titled "Born 2 Destroy" on September 30 and is continuing work on material for the band's next album, tentatively due in 2015.

JULY

 

Foo Fighters have completed recording their eighth studio album, with producer Butch Vig describing it as “epic”. An exact release date has still not been determined for the CD, but it is due to be dropped next November.

 

Johnny Marr, the guitarist from The Smiths, has announced the release of his second solo album; "Playland" will be out on October 6.

 

Avicii's new album is in the works with collaborators including Serj Tankian, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Einzinger of Incubus, Coldplay's Chris Martin and Jon Bon Jovi.

 

Texas guitar great Johnny Winter has passed away on July 16, in his hotel room in Zurich, Switzerland. He was 70. Winter was a soulful instrumentalist admired by friends like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons.

 

Blink-182 is working on a new album, Tom DeLonge has confirmed the news via Instagram.

 

All That Remains are back in the studio working on a new album. The as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2012's "A War You Cannot Win" is expected to drop late 2014 or early 2015 via Razor & Tie.

 

Tommy Ramone, the last surviving original member of the influential New York Punk quartet The Ramones, died on July 11 at his home in New York. He was 62 and had been in hospice care following treatment for bile duct cancer. Ramone served as the band's drummer from 1974 to 1978, appearing on the band's first four albums.

 

Radiohead will return to the studio in September to record the follow-up to 2011's "The King Of Limbs".

JUNE

 

Pink Floyd will be releasing a new album in October, entitled "The Endless River". Although there is no official announcement, the news was revealed by David Gilmour's wife, Polly Samson, on Twitter. Samson added that the album is based on 1994 sessions with Pink Floyd's Richard Wright.

 

Living Colour is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on its sixth studio album,"Shade". The disc is expected to be released in the fall.

 

Otherwise will release their highly anticipated sophomore album, "Peace At All Costs", this summer. "Darker Side Of The Moon", the disc's first single, is expected to be available on July 8.

 

Shaman's Harvest have signed with Mascot Label Group and the Missouri rockers will release their new album, "Smokin' Hearts & Broken Guns", on September 16.

 

The Gaslight Anthem have a new album ready to go. "Get Hurt" will be released on August 19 by Island Records and will be available in multi-formats: CD, vinyl and digital.

 

Billy Idol fans will have two things to celebrate in Rocktober as Idol has announced that he will be releasing his first new studio album in almost a decade in October along with his previously announced autobiography.

 

Casey Kasem, legendary host of the American Top 40 radio program that counted down the hits for American audiences every week, has died. He was 82.

 

Anberlin's final studio album, "Lowborn", is being pushed back a month from June 23 to July 22.

 

Interpol's first album in four years is on its way. The veteran New York alt-Rock group's fifth studio effort, "El Pintor", will be out on September 9, via Matador Records.

MAY

 

Dave Grohl have revealed some details for the forthcoming Foo Fighters album, which is due to be released this fall. The record will include collaborations with Gary Clark Jr., Zac Brown, Rick Neilsen of Cheap Trick, Kiss' Paul Stanley, Heart's Nancy Wilson and The Eagles' Joe Walsh.

 

Black Veil Brides will release their new album on October 28. The group are currently recording the effort with producer Bob Rock.

 

John Mellencamp will release his new album, "Plain Spoken", this fall as the first project under a newly-signed and unprecedented lifetime recording contract with Republic Records.

 

Opeth will their new studio album, "Pale Communion", through Roadrunner Records on 25 August.

 

Flyleaf are currently in the studio in Los Angeles with producer Don Gilmore, the group will release its fourth album in September.

 

Nightwish have recorded 12 demo tracks in the run-up to recording what will be their next album that the band hopes to have completed by January 2015. It will be their first to be led by the vocals of Floor Jansen, who was announced as permanent replacement for Anette Olzon in 2013.

 

Every Time I Die have announced the release of their seventh studio album "From Parts Unknown"; the disc is scheduled for release on July 1 via Epitaph Records.

 

David Gilmour is currently in the studio working on a new solo album. Gilmour's wife, author Polly Samson, recently posted an Instagram photo from the sessions, featuring the Pink Floyd guitarist recording with his backup singers.

 

Billy Corgan has recruited Tommy Lee to play drums on the new Smashing Pumpkins album. The Pumpkins recently signed a worldwide exclusive Artist Services Deal with BMG Chrysalis U.S. to release their next two albums, "Monuments To An Elegy" and "Day For Night". The first single is expected at the end of 2014, with the albums coming in 2015.

 

Cage The Elephant released their third album "Melophobia" only six months ago, but the band is already at work on its follow-up.

 

Dirty Heads are set to release their new album "Sound Of Change" on July 8 through Allen Kovac's Five Seven Music.

 

Finch have signed with Razor & Tie as they prepare to release their third studio album which is projected for a late 2014 release. A single will precede in June.

 

 

APRIL

 

Foreigner's Mick Jones says he expects new songs written with the band's co-founder and former vocalist Lou Gramm will be released next year. Gramm and Jones haven't written together in 20 years, but the pair performed together in June 2013 in New York City.

 

Lenny Kravitz will release a new studio album, titled "Strut", on September 23 via his own Roxie Records label and a worldwide deal with Kobalt Label Services.

 

Ill Nino will release its new studio album, "Till Death, Mi Familia", on July 22 via Victory Records.

 

Duran Duran are in studio with producer Mark Ronson to cut their 14th album. The British veteran rockers have also revealed that they are working on new music with former The Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante.

 

Ted Nugent's new album, "Shut Up And Jam" is all finished and ready to go. On his FB page he shared some exciting news about his upcoming studio record, including the fact that Sammy Hagar is a featured guest.

 

The members of As I Lay Dying are carrying on with a brand new band after singer Tim Lambesis pleaded guilty to a felony murder solicitation charge in February. The new group is named Wovenwar and Nick Hipa, Phil Sgrosso, Josh Gilbert and Jordan Mancino have recruited Oh, Sleeper's Shane Blay as their frontman.

 

Rumors circulating Monday, April 14, that AC/DC were about to retire have proved to be false. Although guitarist Malcolm Young is stepping away from the band, singer Brian Johnson says the remaining members will get together this May to work on new material.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers have revealed their next album is to be called "Hypnotic Eye" and it's a return to the classic sound of their earliest work. The disc is scheduled for release this summer by Reprise Records.

 

Mastodon has titled its new album "Once More Round The Sun", no specific release date has been given for it yet but it is expected to be out later this year.

 

Uriah Heep's 24th album will be called "Outsider" and is set for release in June via Frontiers Records. It's their first studio outing since the death of bassist Trevor Bolder last year after a battle against cancer.

 

 

MARCH

 

Say Anything have announced they will be releasing their sixth studio album, titled "Hebrews", on June 10 via Equal Vision Records.

 

Matisyahu is set to release his fifth studio album, "Akeda", on June 3 via Elm City Music.

 

Pretenders frontman Chrissie Hynde have announced that she will be releasing her debut album under her own name, "Stockholm", on June 10. The disc will feature guest appearances from Neil Young, John McEnroe and Joakim Ahlund of Caesars.

 

Dave Brockie, better known as Oderus Urungus, the founder and lead singer of Metal band GWAR, died Sunday March 23 at the age of 50. His body was found by his bandmate at his home in Richmond, Virginia.

 

Nazareth have confirmed what could be their last album with Dan McCafferty will be released on June 9. The disc entitled "Rock 'N' Roll Telephone", will contain 11 tracks. The veteran outfit last month revealed Scottish singer Linton Osborne as their new frontman, after McCafferty was forced to retire as a result of health issues that left him incapable of delivering a live show.

 

The Black Keys have revealed the title and release date of their new LP: "Turn Blue", their eighth studio album, will be released on May 13.

Godsmack have begun tracking what will be their sixth studio album. With a majority of pre-production already done, frontman Sully Erna is now making his way through vocal duties.

 

HED p.e.'s ninth studio album, titled "Evolution", is currently being finished and mixed for asummer 2014 release.

 

U2 has postponed the release of a new album and tour until 2015. The band has recently scheduled additional sessions with producers Ryan Tedder and Paul Epworth. Danger Mouse remains onboard as the project's central producer.

 

The Doobie Brothers, with five-time Grammy winner Michael McDonald returning to the fold, will team up with some of country music's biggest stars to re-record some of their biggest hits. The album will be released on an as-yet undetermined date in 2014.

 

Deftones have started writing music for what will be their eighth album, frontman Chino Moreno has revealed. There's no release date for the follow-up to 2012's "Koi No Yokan", but Moreno says the band will stick to their tried-and-tested approach to songwriting on the new material.

 

Sebastian Bach's forthcoming album "Give 'Em Hell", will be released on April 18 in Europe and April 22 in North Aermica via Frontiers Records. The disc features guitarists John 5, Steve Stevens and Devin Bronson, along with Duff McKagan on bass.

 

 

FEBRUARY

 

Teenage Time Killer, the side-project for Mike Dean and Reed Mullin from Corrosion Of Conformity have recruited a huge number of guest stars including Dave Grohl plus Corey Taylor. Other musicians attached to the project, which currently has no release date, include Lamb Of God frontman Randy Blythe, bassist Nick Oliveri, Max Cavalera, Neil Fallon of Clutch and more.

 

AC/DC are set to record a new album to mark 40th their anniversary; Brian Johnson says the band is planning to enter a studio in Vancouver, sometime in May.

 

Mushroomhead will release their eighth studio album, "The Righteous & The Butterfly", on May 13 via Megaforce Records.

 

Better Than Ezra have announced that they have signed a new record deal with The End Records to release the group's forthcoming album.

JANUARY

 

This year, The Who are celebrating their 50th anniversary as a band with new music. In an interview with NME, Roger Daltrey said he will reunite with Pete Townshend to make a new album.

 

Def Leppard are in the studio to record their tenth album and the follow up to 2008's "Songs From The Sparkle Lounge".

 

Kyng will release their sophomore album, "Burn The Serum", on April 15 via Razor & Tie.

 

Hellyeah drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott revealed that the band's next album will be released May 15. Abbott called the band's new material “heavy and diverse”.

 

Ratt frontman Stephen Pearcy says the band are aiming to release their tenth album this year, to tie in with their 30th anniversary.
